Neudorf Moutere Chardonnay 2012

The Neudorf Moutere Chardonnay is one of this country’s most illustrious and has a history that covers three decades. The basis of the quality is the low yield from old Mendoza clone vines that were planted in 1978. This and Tim and Judy’s understanding of their balance with the vineyard and sympathetic winemaking aimed to produce elegantly powerful and complex wine. I’ve never seen an ordinary, let alone poor release by Neudorf of this wine, and it is truly the flagship for this remarkable producer. In August last year, I rated the 2011 Neudorf Moutere Chardonnay a perfect 20.0/20 (click here to see my review). Here I review the new release 2012 from a very small crop which yielded concentrated fruit with fine acidity according to the Finns.
