Neudorf 2012 Moutere Dry and Moutere Riesling

23-Apr-2013

In August last year I reviewed the 2011 Neudorf Moutere Dry and Moutere Rieslings. I deemed them as high quality wines with the capability of developing considerable layers of complexity with bottle age. (Click here to read my reviews.) Clearly the fruit is from superbly managed vines from a top performing site. It was the first time two Rieslings had been made at the Moutere flagship level since 2000. The exercise was repeated again in 2012, and I review the new wines here. The differences between the 2011s and 2012s are quite startling. The 2011s were marked by reductive complexities which also added to the textures. They are ‘winemakers’ wines’ and I liked the character very much. The 2012s are much more pure in fruit expression and finer in texture. These are wine consumers’ wines and I like these very much too. www.neudorf.co.nz
