Mystree Martinborough 2014 Chardonnays

02-Feb-2017
The boutique Mystree Estate in Martinborough is the wine venture of Geoff and Carol Reef, business professionals who retired from work in the U.K. and U.S.A. to Carol’s home land in 2004. In 2009, they planted 2,000 clone 95 and Mendoza Chardonnay vines on just over 0.5 ha of their block on Dry River Road, approx. 3 km further in from Murdoch James and about 14 km from the Martinborough village. Geoff and Carol tend the wines personally and make their wines on site, the first vintage being the 2012s. The Reeds have had the help of their neighbour Simon Groves in the vineyard and in winemaking. Geoff and Carol also make olive oil from 180 olive trees and run luxury accommodation on their property. Here, I review the 'Reserve' and 'Statement' Chardonnays made in 2014. www.mystree.nz
