Murphy-Goode 2014 and 2015 La Crema and Kendall-Jackson GR Chardonnays

25-Jan-2017
Chardonnay as Cabernet Sauvignon is a signature variety of California. The styles of Californian Chardonnay have fluctuated wildly over the decades, and even today, there are very diverse expressions. However, the modern wines have a restraint compared with the monstrous, high alcohol, fully-worked wines of the past, and many are made with white burgundy as a model. Procure Liquor is quite possibly the only New Zealand distributor that is growing their portfolio of Californian Chardonnay. The wines carried are carefully chosen to show a range of styles, and importantly offer a degree of value, which is generally unexpected in this market. Here, I review three Californian Chardonnays from Procure Liquor, all fresh and youthful with the potential to develop further. www.procureliquor.co.nz
