Mt Beautiful 2017 Rosé and Sauvignon Blanc, and 2016 Chardonnay and Pinot Noir

13-Apr-2018

David and Leigh Teece created a new vignoble in New Zealand when they planted vines near Cheviot in North Canterbury in 2004. There are now over 70 ha of vines, with over half devoted to Sauvignon Blanc and around 30% to Pinot Noir, with smaller plantings of Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Riesling. Exports, particularly to the United States, where the Teeces reside, accounts for a significant amount of the production, though the domestic market is important. The vineyard is tended by Fin Grieve, and the wines made on-site since 2015, by founding winemaker Sam Weaver, supported by Ben Weaver. Here, I review the new release 2017 Rosé and Sauvignon Blanc, and 2016 Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. www.mtbeautiful.co.nz
