Mount Patriarch 2014 Sauvignon and Pinot Gris, and 2013 Pinot Noir

16-Mar-2015
The ‘Naked Vine’, ‘Marlborough Range’ and ‘Mount Patriarch’ brands come from the 70 ha ‘Patriarch’ vineyard in the Upper Wairau Valley, established in 2008 to produce quality organically grown wines at an accessible price. Covering two terraces, the upper terrace comprises 33 ha certified Bio Gro organic, planted to 19 ha of Sauvignon Blanc, 5 ha of Pinot Gris and 9 ha of Pinot Noir. The lower terrace is 37 ha, with 32.5 ha of Sauvignon Blanc, 2 ha of Chardonnay and 2.5 ha of Gruner Veltliner and this will be certified in the coming future. Bart Arnst tends to the viticulture and John Jackson is the winemaker, using the Marlborough Vintners facility. Here I review the 2014 Mount Patriarch Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris, and 2013 Pinot Noir, along with the 2013 Naked Vine Pinot Noir. www.patriarch.co.nz
