Mount Brown Waipara Valley Pinot Noir 2014

25-Aug-2016
Since establishing their Waipara Valley wine venture in 2002, Tony Rutherford and his daughter Catherine Keith have grown their vineyard resources to operate three sites with established vines, some being among the oldest in the district. With Frank Manifold s winemaker, they have crafted their premium ‘Mount Brown’ brand with the value ‘Wild River’ tier in support and the ‘Grand Reserve’ bottlings as their top wines. All the wines offer good value and combined with the quality, they have brought attention to the operation. Here, I review the 2014 Mount Brown Pinot Noir, coming from a challenging vintage. The Mount Brown team has produced a creditable, clean, fruit-focussed wine. www.mountbrown.co.nz
