Mount Brown 2016 ‘Estate’ and ‘Grand Reserve Pinot Gris and Riesling

29-Dec-2016
Mount Brown Estates was established in the Waipara Valley in 2002 by Catherine Keith and her father Tony Rutherford. Growing their holdings, they own three vineyards which provide the resource of old vine material, as well as giving them options in blending as well as bottling single vineyard wines. They have worked hard with their winemaker Frank Manifold to produce quality wines, with the flagship ‘Grand Reserve’ range showing superior fruit and sophisticated winemaker inputs, or distinctive styling. These wines and the ‘regular’ premium Mount Brown Estates wines have seen their share of wine show success, indicating they are achieving their aims. Here I review the new release 2016 Mount Brown and ‘Grand Reserve’ bottlings of Pinot Gris and Riesling. www.mountbrown.co.nz
