Mount Ara Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2013

10-Oct-2014
Ara Wines in Marlborough is one of this country’s serious producers of Sauvignon Blanc. With around 500 ha of close-planted vines in the upper reaches of the Waihopi Valley, the output is significant. Viticulturist Gus Struthers and winemaker Jeff Clarke have brought the fruit quality to the fore with wine styles that are accessible and understood by wine consumers in New Zealand, Australia and the U.K., where the company’s major markets are. For the FMCG sector in New Zealand and independent retails off-shore, Ara has the ‘Mount Ara’ brand, which is pitched at a similar level to the ‘Pathway’ tier that is offered in New Zealand. Here, I review the Mount Ara Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2013. www.arawines.co.nz
