The Morepork Vineyard is the very small single variety site of Phil and Rosemary Minehan who planted Barrie clone Pinot Gris in two blocks on their north-facing vineyard on Puketotara Road, Kerikeri, in the Bay of Islands in 2007, 2008 and 2010. The vineyard measures less than 1 hectare and yielded the first vintage in 2009. The annual production is very small, approx. 200 – 250 cases annually, and most of it is sold locally. The wine is made by Rod McIvor at the nearby Marsden Estate winery. Here, I review the new 2017 vintage. www.moreporkvineyard.co.nz
