Mitolo ‘Jester’ 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz

26-Nov-2014
Mitolo is the wine brand of Frank Mitolo, of Italian descent. Frank first started making wine in 1995, and teamed up with well-respected winemaker Ben Glaetzer, sourcing fruit from Don Lopresti’s vineyards in the McLaren Vale, releasing the new wines under this arrangement from the 2000 vintage. The wines incorporate much of the Italian heritage, including Italian varieties Vermentino and Sangiovese, as well as wine made using Italian techniques such as appassimento. The ‘Jester’ range harks back to the colourful and characterful jesters of the 15th and 16th Centuries who were favourites of the court, and the back labels profile noted individuals. www.mitolowines.com.au Here, I review the Mitolo ‘Jester’ 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, the wines distributed by Mineral Wine. www.mineralwine.co.nz
