Mission ‘Vineyard Selection’ 2015 Pinot Gris and 2014 Pinot Noir, Merlot and Syrah

12-May-2016
The Mission Estate ‘Vineyard Selection’ range was designed to fit in between the accessible ‘Estate’ range and the premium ‘Reserve’ bottlings, and thus offer varietal expression along with the representation of site and regionality, while still being affordable. The ‘Vineyard Selection’ nomenclature refers to the use of fruit from different vineyard sources to maintain a consistent ability to offer the key varietals to the consumer. The fruit can thus come from vineyards in Hawke’s Bay and Marlborough, and beyond, to suit the required style as proposed by winemaker Paul Mooney and his team. The market appreciates such dependability. Here, I review the new release ‘Vineyard Selection’ wines, these being the 2015 Pinot Gris, and 2014 Pinot Noir, Merlot and Syrah. www.missionestate.co.nz
