Mission ‘Jewelstone’ Chardonnay 2015

16-May-2016
The ‘Jewelstone’ wines of Mission have always has a near-mystical aura surrounding them, partly from the fanciful labels of the original bottlings of the early 1990s. Allied with the presentation was the special quality of the wines, in particular the Chardonnays. These wines incorporated the experience of veteran winemaker Paul Mooney’s work with barrel-fermentation which he put into commercial practice with the 1983 vintage. Paul continues his work in this field, and the ‘Jewelstone’ Chardonnays retain their mystique and quality, now with the benefits of old vine resource. Here, I review the new 2015 ‘Jewelstone’ Chardonnay. www.missionestate.co.nz
