The ‘Reserve’ wines of Mills Reef are their premium bottlings, made from low-cropped vines to make quality wines with positive fruit flavours and varietal expression. Mills Reef aims to achieve "balance of flavour, structure and texture” in them. As with many second tier wines, they have had success in the market and on the show circuit due to the high standards of the selection process employed by the Mills Reef team, and the value of the wines. Here I review the new release ‘Reserve wines, the 2015 Pinot Gris and Syrah from Hawke’s Bay fruit. www.millsreef.co.nz
