Matahiwi Wairarapa ‘Cuvee’ NV

20-May-2016
The world has taken a shining to sparkling wines, but the majority of drinkers can not afford Champagne regularly. We have seen the growth of locally made method traditionnelle styles emulating that of Champagne, but also increased sales of other styles of sparklings, such as Cava from Spain and Prosecco from north-east Italy. Local producers are broadening their interpretation of quality sparkling wines too, to match the interest seen world-wide. Here, I review the Matahiwi Wairarapa ‘Cuvee’ made from Pinot Gris fruit by the Charmat method. www.matahiwi.co.nz
