Man O’ War Estate Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Bordeaux Blend

The size of the Man O’ War winegrowing operation on Waiheke Island has provided the market with considerable accessibility to produce that was deemed extremely expensive and difficult to get hold of. The 60 ha of vines, are planted on Waiheke Island as well as Ponui Island, offering plenty of options for blending to different styles. The black labelled flagship wines are truly limited release wines, but the white labelled ‘estate’ bottlings are much more widely available and affordable, while still retaining the character of Waiheke Island. Here, I review the 2012 estate Sauvignon Blanc and a Chardonnay, as well as a 2011 Chardonnay and a Merlot/Cabernet from the same vintage.
