After Loveblock releasing their first wine from 2020 harvest, Loveblock TEE Sauvignon Blanc in October 2020, which used green tea antioxidant as preservatives and made it to my Top 6 Savignon Blanc tasted in 2020. Loveblock is set to release its Organic Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris.
The Sauvignon Blanc is from their certified organic Woolshed Vineyard on Loveblock Farm, in the Lower Dashwood subregion of Aweatere Valley in Marlborough. Predominately aged alluvial loams containing some silt loam over stone. The vines are pruned to two, three or four canes per vine, depending on vigour and trained in VSP. Ideal flowering conditions, followed by a warm dry summer, grapes were picked in perfect conditions with an average yield of 9 tonnes per hectare in early April. No sulphur or ascorbic acid was used in the vineyard as per organic winemaking practices.
The Pinot Gris from the same subregion with the same soil type sourced entirely from their certified organic estate vineyard, The Triangle. Organic management decreases the vigour of the vines, reducing berry size and overall yields, harvested in late March yielding nine tonnes per hectare.
Erica and Kim are behind the Loveblock brand, after selling the brand that's under Kim's name, they now go by their first name to avoid confusion of the company they sold and no longer involved.
