Leveret Estate From Coniglio

07-Aug-2014
Leveret Estate is a new brand introduced by John Coney of The Wine Portfolio. Leveret means ‘young hare’ and the name is apt as it ties in with ‘Coniglio’ the super-premium Chardonnay wine, which in Italian refers to a type of rabbit also known as ‘Coney’. The Leveret Estate Hawke’s Bay wines are made at the company’s ‘Riverview’ winery, by Will Shields, who joined The Wine Portfolio in 2012. Leveret Estate will have a ‘premium’ and ‘reserve’ option. Here, I review the new release 2013 Chardonnay, Syrah and Merlot/Cabernet. www.wineportfolio.co.nz
