Craig Gasson is a winegrower who never rests! He has developed his ‘Lamont’ Central Otago brand fastidiously, and has ensured his wines are of the best quality possible. Pinot Noir is his focus, but he has made some wonderful Riesling and Pinot Gris releases over the years. My previous reviews of Craig’s wines in July yielded 5-stars for his 2017 Pinot Gris and 2016 Riesling, with the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir close to the 5-star threshold (click here to see my reviews). While almost all of his wine comes from Bendigo sites including that he helped plant for the McLaughlin family in 1999 and nurtured since, Craig has sourced fruit from other sites in the region to broaden his range. Here, I review the 2018 Pinot Noir Rosé and Pinot Gris from Bendigo fruit, and 2017 Chardonnay from Wanaka grapes. www.lamont.co.nz
