The Lake Chalice wine brand from Marlborough was established by Chris Gambitsis and Phil Binnie in 1989. It has developed a loyal following and has been well marketed and distributed through the country. In June last year, the brand and vineyards were purchased by the Ibbotson family of Saint Clair fame, who intend to retain it as a stand-alone brand. In coming releases, they will introduce new labelling and no doubt put their stamp of quality on the wines. Here, I review the ‘Sweet Beak’ Late Harvest Riesling 2010. www.lakechalice.com
