The MacDonald family are rapidly growing their brand and market presence. Though farming the land for over 800 years, and with ties to the Wairau Bar district of Marlborough, it was only in 2003 that they planted vines on their land, eventually establishing their te Pa label with the 2011 vintage. However, the te Pa wines are becoming widely seen and well-regarded for their quality, being made by Liam McElhinney and Sam Bennett. These wine are supported by the Pa Road brand, aimed at the channels of FMCG and larger chain. There is also the Koha tier, primarily an export label that is strong in the U.S.A. and Canada, but also made available for the domestic market. Here, I review the new Koha releases, the 2016 Sauvignon Blanc and 2015 Pinot Noir. www.tepawines.com
