Kim Crawford 2013 Reserve Sauvignon Blanc and Pansy! Rosé

Kim Crawford Wines was established in 1996 by Kim and his wife Erica as a virtual winery based in Auckland. Kim had a high profile role as winemaker at Coopers Creek, but the growth of his own venture was phenomenal, such that it was acquired by Canadian liquor giant Vincor in 2003. Vincor became fully owned by the Constellation group again, and in that time it has become one of the most successful brands in the global market. The wines are made from fruit sourced throughout the country under the direction of Anthony Walkenhorst who joined the company to work alongside founder Kim Crawford in 2005. A recent consolidation of the brand has seen the wines tiered into ‘First Pick’, ‘Reserve’ and ‘Small Parcels’ ranges. Here, I review the new 2013 Sauvignon Blanc and ‘Pansy! Rosé wines which are in the ‘Reserve’ level.
