Kendall-Jackson California Wine Selection

Kendall-Jackson was founded by San Francisco attorney Jess Jackson who developed a lifestyle vineyard in the 1970s supplying contract fruit. With cancelled grape orders, he created his own label, and his inaugural Kendall-Jackson ‘Vintner’s Reserve Chardonnay 1982 was an instant hit. Kendall-Jackson quickly grew to become one of the most significant brands, and it is now part of the Jackson Family Wines portfolio which owns and operates over 35 individual wineries around the world. The company is still family-run, and the range of Kendall-Jackson wines has grown to a full portfolio of different tiers, from the fruit-forward ‘K-J Avant’ to the classical Californian ‘Vintner’s Reserve’, estate fruited ‘Grand Reserve’, single vineyard ‘Highland Estates’ and ‘Jackson Estate’ wines to the flagship ‘Stature’ bottlings. Procure Liquor has begun a programme of importing a range of Californian wines into New Zealand, which has seen limited offerings. A selection of Kendall-Jackson wines comprises part of the initial shipments. Here, I review these new wines.
