From the first vintage in 2002, Julicher Estate has quietly cemented a place as one of Martinborough’s most consistent wine producers, bringing much credence to the Te Muna Road district of the region. With neighbours such as Escarpment Vineyard and Craggy Range, the hard-working Wim Julicher and Sue Darling are in good company. Their 20 ha vineyard is best known for Pinot Noir, vintages winning Champion Wine of the Show at the N.Z. International Wine Show and Air N.Z. Wine Awards, but all of the wines are of very high quality, being made by talented and sensitive winemaker Outi Jakovirta, with Julicher since the 2005 vintage. Here, I review the new release 2013 Rosé and Riesling wines. www.julicher.co.nz
