Hogshead, Sister’s Run, Henry’s Drive and Woods Crampton Aussie Reds

09-Jun-2016
The range of Australian red wine brought into New Zealand by distributors Procure Liquor is diverse. But Jonty Hamer and Misha Taylor have an understanding of what works in the New Zealand market, and despite the various styles of the portfolio, all of the Australian reds share the traits of drinkability, satisfaction and value. The ‘Hogshead’ grew out of a partnership between South Australian grower Jim Zerella and winemaker-marketer Nicholas Crampton. ‘Sister’s Run’ is the brand of Carl and Peggy Lindner who own Langmeil in the Barossa Valley and has Elena Brooks as winemaker. ‘Henry’s Drive’ is one of Procure’s stars, the wines from this Padthaway producer consistently winning top awards in wine shows. And ‘Woods Crampton’ is the collaboration between label designer Aaron Woods and Nicholas Crampton, with marketing expertise. Here, I review a selection of wines from these five brands. www.procureliquor.co.nz
