Hilok ‘Premier’ Central Otago Pinot Noir 2009

28-May-2014
At the start of this month, I reviewed the Hilok Central Otago Pinot Noir 2010, the name of which refers to Alexandra’s iconic "hill clock”. The label is a winegrowing venture that has risen from the ashes of McArthur Ridge, the Pinot Noir sourced from 5 ha which is part of a co-operatively managed 54 ha vineyard with plantings that date back to 2002. Owners Jerry Day, Rory McLellan and Cam Dykes have John and Christine Rasmussen tending the viticulture and Kevin Clark as the winemaker. The 2010 wine is sweet-fruited, accessible and enjoyable (click here to see my review). Here, I review the inaugural 2009 vintage. www.hilok.co.nz
