Henry’s Drive ‘Pillar Box’ Cabernet and Artezin Zinfandel 2013

30-Mar-2016
Jonty Hamer and Misha Taylor of the Procure Liquor distribution company have an excellent understanding of the tastes of the New Zealand consumer. This is apparent in their selection of imported wines, especially in reds, for the market. Their wines are chosen to offer alternatives to what is made (so well) by the producers here. The wines do have a common concession for the New Zealand palate in that they show good and sweet, ripe, fruit. But they also possess the expression of place from where they are sourced. The wines perform very well, and can be seen across the different levels of retail, from FMCG through to specialist wine stores, and they are often very successful on the show circuit where international wines are judged along with domestic wines. Here, I review the Henry’s Drive ‘Pillar Box’ Padthaway Cabernet Sauvignon and Artezin Mendocino Zinfandel, both from the 2013 vintage. www.procureliquor.co.nz
