Henry’s Drive is the South Australian Padthaway-based winegrowing business of Kim Longbottom, who with her late husband Mark established their vineyard in 1992. They made their first wines in 1998. ‘Henry’s Drive’ is named after the proprietor of the 19th century mail coach service that ran through the property. The company has over 100 ha of vineyards in Padthaway, with approx. 12 ha in the McLaren Vale. Winemaker is Kim Jackson. The ‘Pillar Box’ brand refers to the mail box of the 19th century. www.henrysdrive.com Here, I review the 2012 Pillar Box Red and new 2013 Pillar Box Shiraz. The wines are distributed in New Zealand by Procure Liquor. www.procureliquor.co.nz
