Hawksdrift 2014 Sauvignon Blanc and 2013 Pinot Noir

04-Mar-2016
Hawksdrift is the label of Murray and Robyn Butt who own 9 ha of vines on Morgans Road in the Dillons Point district of Marlborough. They originally planted in 1998 and have supplied their fruit to high profile producers, but as with many growers introduced their own label with wine from the 2011 vintage. Choosing the best parcels from their vineyard, they aim to produce distinctive and complex barrel-fermented and matured wines "outside the square”. Dave Tyney is their winemaker, and the Butts have released Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines. With each successive vintage, they have conducted trials to achieve an ideal balance of oak input with the fruit that the vineyard produces. It is an exciting project which will be very interesting to follow. www.hawksdriftwines.co.nz
