Haha Marlborough Pinot Noir 2012

14-Mar-2013
The rise of the virtual winery is the envy of many well-established producers who have set up with ‘bricks and mortar’. The newcomers don’t have the fixed costs which can affect the profitability of a season when yields vary, and as such enjoy a predictability in income. However, reliance on winemaking by a contractor has its issues, as well as the lack of a perceived ‘home base’. The focus on marketing the quality of the product can overcome this handicap, and Ash Ireland of Fern Ridge Wines, who is responsible for the up-and-coming ‘Haha’ wines has done just that, promoting the tastiness of his wines and how they deliver excellent value. Having seen the wines from the start, I am now adding consistency to a list of their traits. My review of the new release Haha Marlborough Pinot Noir 2012 is here. www.hahawine.com
