Haha Brut Cuvee NV

04-May-2016
Ashton Ireland and Haha Wines never fail to amaze me with their innovation. Over a few short years, the range of varieties and styles has expanded and fruit is now sourced from more than one region to make the wines. Now, Haha has introduced a sparkling wine. While made by the Charmat method, the wine incorporates considerable complexity and sophistication with the use of parcels of fruit incorporating some primary fermentation in cuve, aging on lees up to 5 years, with the secondary fermentation in tank.  An added source of input to the style is the involvement of Gary Duke, of Hunters, who is known for his expertise in the sparkling wine style. Here, I review the new sparkling release. www.hahawine.co.nz
