Gumbo and Good is a collaboration wine brand of the Gumbo and Good families. Cashias Gumbo is a sommelier in Christchurch who is totally immersed in wine, working in the wine trade with a distribution company, and recently partaking in the world championships of the wine options game part of the New Zealand team (coming in fourth). Haydon Good is the winemaker at The Crater Rim winery in the Waipara Valley. Haydon has made a number of creditable wines that have captured the attention of the wine press lately. Together, Cashias and Haydon have sourced Sauvignon Blanc fruit and hope to have Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir to follow. Here, I review their first wine, a Sauvignon Blanc, the fruit from the Good Family certified organic vineyard. The wine is distributed through Brandhouse. www.brandhouse.co.nz
