Gibson Bridge ‘Reserve’ Pinot Gris 2014

29-Jan-2015
Gibson Bridge is the boutique vineyard and wine venture of Howard and Julie Simmonds who established their close-planted 2 ha vineyard just outside Renwick in Marlborough in 2004. Pinot Gris is the main variety planted with smaller amounts of Gewurztraminer, Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir and Malbec. A series of distinctive and individual, high quality wines has been made from their first vintage in 2006. Dave Tyney has been the contracted winemaker from the 2013 vintage, the wines made at the Marlborough Vintners facility. Here, I review the first bottling of the 2014 ‘Reserve Pinot Gris, made from free-run juice from low cropped, two cane vines. www.gibsonbridge.co.nz
