Gibbston Valley Gold River 2015 Central Otago Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir

16-Nov-2016
The ‘Gold River’ tier is Gibbston Valley’s range of wines that give classical Central Otago regionality with affordability. The brand has had a recent upgrade in presentation, part of the process of making the Gibbston Valley branding more positive and distinctive. As with all of the company’s wines, the fruit is all estate grown, and is hand-picked. Much of the style comes from the process of vineyard selections and is made up of fruit that does not make it into the single vineyard bottlings. For Pinot Noir, early ripening fruit, warmer vineyard, younger vine and cooler sights are involved, and result in wines with balance. The wines are vinified to the same care as all of the other Gibbston Valley wines. Here, I review the 2015 Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir under the ‘Gold River’ range. www.gibbstonvalley.com
