Fromm ‘La Strada’ 2016 Sauvignon, Pinot Gris and Rosé

21-Oct-2016
While the fame Fromm Winery enjoys undoubtedly stems from the single vineyard bottlings, in particular the ‘Clayvin’ and ‘Fromm’ Pinot Noirs crafted lovingly by Hatsch Kalberer, much of the company’s recent success is due to the ‘La Strada’ wines, the range of which has been worked on carefully over the last few years. The ‘La Strada’ wines offer classical Marlborough varietal character, but are made with a nod to the traditional European values that make the single vineyard wines so special. Buyers of ‘La Strada’ are still getting the ‘Fromm’ style, but in a (very) slightly more up-front and accessible way. Here, I review the new 2016 ‘La Strada’ Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Rosé, made by Hatsch Kalberer with hands-on inputs from general manager William Hoare and sales and marketing man Adam Balasoglou.. www.frommwinery.co.nz
