Forrest ‘The Valleys’ Wairau Dry Riesling 2011

13-Feb-2014
John Forrest is a Marlborough specialist, though with interests in Hawke’s Bay, the Waitaki Valley and Central Otago. If he were asked what single varietal was his interest, I’d suspect it would be Riesling. His experience with the variety has earned him accolades in all styles, from bone-dry and relatively high in alcohol, off-dry and medium in the medium-bodied expression, the German medium-sweet and low alcohol versions and the fully-sweet botrytised examples. The classical Marlborough Riesling is the dry to off dry as represented by ‘The Valleys’ label under the Forrest portfolio. Here is my preview of the 2011 vintage.  It is yet to be released on the New Zealand market. www.forrest.co.nz
