Eventide – Waiheke Island Syrah

23-Oct-2020

Chris Hollister originally from the US moved to New Zealand in 2007 with wife Helen. 2011, Chris co-founded EcoZip Adventures on Waiheke Island on the same site as Eventide, first vine planted in 2011, mainly Syrah. The vineyard is now mature and producing about 150 to 200 cases per year since 2015.

Eventide vineyard site is on the second-highest point on the island, next to 15 acres of native rainforest. The spectacular sunsets lit with pastel shades of pink, purple, yellow and orange and formed the inspiration for their name "Eventide" - middle English for 'evening time'.

Viticulturist Matt Sloan from Sloan Viticulture provides vineyard care to Eventide and many other vineyards on Waiheke Island, and Mike Wood is an experienced winemaker with experiences from Germany, Australia and France.
