Etienne Calsac ‘L’echappee Belle’ Champagne Extra Brut NV

Champagne Etienne Calsac is an artisan producer with 2.8 ha over three villages, Avize and Grauves in the Cote des Blancs, and Bisseuil in the Marne Valley. The ‘clos’ in Avize is planted exclusively to Chardonnay, the vines over 30 y.o. Etienne took over his grandparents’ vines in 2010, the fruit having gone to the ‘grandes maisons’ previously. Etienne oversees the viticulture and winemaking, the wines all based on Chardonnay, including a rosé. They have a dedicated following, being placed in the Ritz in Paris and several 5 Michelin Star restaurants throughout France, and they are exported to the U.S. The wine is distributed in New Zealand by Andre Lindsay of ‘Three French Vines’, a specialist small house Champagne importer.
