Philippa Fourbet took a leap of faith and purchased, sight unseen, the 5.5-hectare vineyard and French-styled cadole in 2010 – and she’s delighted she did.
Renaming the vineyard Domaine Rewa to honour her Granny, Philippa initially administered the Lowburn vineyard from London, where she worked in banking, and then from France’s picturesque Anduze region.
In early 2018 Philippa moved her life and her family – her twin sons, and Anduze vase-creating husband, Yannick Fourbet, aka The French Potter – onto Domaine Rewa to begin their Kiwi life.
Since Philippa took over, Domaine Rewa has undergone many improvements. With the help of her viticulturists Gary Ford and Grant Rolsten, and winemaker Pete Bartle, production has continually increased. Now, over 20,000 bottles are produced each year, including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling.
Philippa has taken Domaine Rewa biodynamic and it is now Biogro certified. Raised on a farm outside of Lawrence, Philippa’s parents farmed holistically and with respect to the environment and animals, so it was perfectly natural for Philippa to follow suit on her vineyard.
