Originally from Dunedin but with long ties to Central Otago and the Bannockburn region in particular, Graeme and Gillian Crosbie established Domain Road Vineyard when they developed their 6.5 ha home vineyard on Domain Road in the upper Bannockburn Terraces over 2003 – 2005. They have expanded this with the purchase and planting of their 10 ha ‘Defiance’ vineyard on Felton Road in 2011. This has given the Crosbies considerable blending options as well as increased production. The two sites are tended by vineyard manager Fiona Johnman, and the wines are made by Pete Bartle at VinPro. The Domain Road wines comprise a rosé, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, a dry and medium Riesling, plus the Pinot Noir and flagship ‘Paradise’ Pinot Noir, a single vineyard wine from the ‘Domain Road’ site, which is now joined by a new super-premium Pinot Noir, a single vineyard ‘Defiance’ bottling. The wines have proven to be very successful on the show circuit.
