Domain Road Central Otago 2015 ‘Defiance’ Chardonnay

22-Dec-2016
The Bannockburn winegrowing venture of Graeme and Gillian Crosbie was established when they purchased their home block on Domain Road and planted vines over 2003 to 2005. Their success spurred them to purchase a further 10 ha of land on Felton Road in 2012 to plant Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling. The Crosbies named the site ‘Defiance’ reflecting their expansion in the face of the global recession. Fiona Johnman tends to the viticulture and the Crosbies have significant input in the style of the wines which are made at VinPro by Pete Bartle. Here, I review Domain Road’s first Chardonnay, the fruit from the ‘Defiance’ vineyard. www.domainroad.co.nz
