Dog Point Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2015

30-Oct-2015
Ivan Sutherland and James Healy make only Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wine. While Chardonnay appears to have become the signature variety, and Pinot Noir may be the most challenging, Sauvignon Blanc is the most important. The alternative style ‘Section 94’ employs considerable, but subtle inputs to lend an array of complexities to make it one of the most exciting expressions of this type from Marlborough. The ‘regular’ Sauvignon Blanc is much more fruit focussed, but I see it too as incorporating similar complexities to make it a stand-apart wine from most of what is made in the region. Here, I review the 2015 Sauvignon Blanc, the twelth release of this stainless-steel fermented wine. www.dogpoint.co.nz
