DeMorgenzon ‘DMZ’ 2016 Chenin Blanc and 2015 Chardonnay

21-Oct-2016
Wendy and Hylton Appelbaum operate DeMorgenzon, a 91 ha garden farm estate with 55 ha of vineyard in the Stellenbosch district of South Africa. They acquired the estate in 2003 and set about revitalising it, operating it to the philosophies of sustainable agriculture and sensitivity to the environment. Their farm manager is Danie de Waal and winemaker is Carl van der Merwe, and together they have achieved remarkable recognition on the international stage with their wine. Here I review the new 2016 ‘DMZ’ Chenin Blanc and 2015 ‘DMZ’ Chardonnay, the latter wine I reviewed in July, but deemed by importer Misha Taylor of Procure Liquor to have improved since then. I concur with the improvement. www.demorgenzon.co.zawww.procureliquor.co.nz
