DeMorgenzon 2015 Garden Rosé, 2015 DMZ Chenin and 2013 Syrah

07-Apr-2016
DeMorgenzon is a 91 ha garden farm estate with 55 ha of vineyard in the Stellenbosch district in South Africa. DeMorgenzon means ‘morning sun’ and refers to the estate being the first in the Stellenboschkloof valley seeing the sun because of its altitude and aspect. The estate was acquired in 2003 by Wendy and Hylton Appelbaum who have revitalised it. As a modern wine producer, De Morgenzon adheres to the philosophy of sustainable agriculture and sensitivity to the environment, and participates in biodiversity and conservation initiatives. The Appelbaums have had Carl van der Merwe as their winemaker since 2010, and Danie de Waal as their farm manager. Wines are produced under the ‘DeMorgenzon’, ‘Maestro’, ‘DMZ’ and ‘Garden Vineyard tiers. Baroque music is played continuously in the vines and winery, and is believed to have beneficial effects in the resultant wines, which perform particularly well in international judgings. www.demorgenzon.co.za The wines are distributed in New Zealand by Procure Liquor. www.procureliquor.co.nz
