Delta Sauvignon and Pinot Noir, and 2015 Hatter’s Hill Sauvignon and Pinot Noir

Delta Wines was originally devised in 1994 by Kiwi winemaker Matt Thomson and Englishman David Gleave MW to produce top quality Marlborough Pinot Noir. Joining with Neal Ibbotson of Saint Clair, they found a suitable site on the original Delta Farm at the mouth of the Waihopi Valley in 2000 and planted Dijon clone fruit in 2001 and 2002. The flagship ‘Hatter’s Hill’ Pinot Noir comes from the higher elevation plantings whereas the ‘estate’ wine also includes fruit from the flatter land. For Sauvignon Blanc, the fruit is sourced from the Dillons Point and Lower Wairau districts which produces fruit with intense flavours. The Delta Wines are made by Matt Thomson at the Saint Clair facility.
