The Delta Wine Co. was established in 2000 by winemaker Matt Thomson, David Gleave MW and Neal Ibbotson, viticulturist, to make top class Marlborough Pinot Noir. They planted modern Dijon clones on the historic Delta Farm in the Waihopai Valley over 2002 and 2003 on the hillside and flats of their property and make two Pinot Noirs from the site, the ‘Delta’ which combines fruit from the flats and the hillside, and the ‘Hatter’s Hill’ from selected parcels of hillside fruit. The Pinot Noir is supplemented by Sauvignon Blanc sourced predominantly from the Dillons Point district, along with a single vineyard ‘Hatter’s Hill’ Sauvignon Blanc. Here, I review the new 2015 Delta Sauvignon Blanc, 2014 Delta Pinot Noir and 2012 ‘Hatter’s Hill’ Pinot Noir. www.deltawines.co.nz
