Dallington Downs Waipara Pinot Noir 2010 and 2011

25-Mar-2013

Dallington Downs Vineyard Estate is the winegrowing venture of Trevor and Trish Bunting, who in 2004 established their vineyard on the Omihi clay soils in Church Road, in the Waipara Valley. The vineyard is planted to Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, the latter variety mainly in Abel, and with Dijon 667 and 777 clones. The 2009 fruit was sold to Point Bush Estate winery in Waimate, South Canterbury, and in 2010 went to the Crater Rim winery for the ‘Out of the Ashes’ brand, as well as being bottled under the ‘Dallington Downs’ label of the Buntings. Approx. 6 tonnes were harvested in 2011, and wine was made by Theo Coles of Crater Rim. I review the 2010 and 2011 Pinot Noirs of Dallington Downs. www.dallingtondowns.com
