Crown Range Cellar ‘Stolen Heart’ Merlot/Malbec 2014

01-Dec-2016
The Crown Range Cellar negotiant business of young entrepreneur Jing Song has been evolving since it was devised in 2010. Since then, Jing Song has researched and engaged the ideal artisans to craft the wines and products she wants to deliver to the market. One of her first wines, the ‘Signature Selection – Grant Taylor’ Pinot Noir 2013 went on to win the IWSC Pinot Noir Trophy. The brands have grown to encompass the ‘China Girl’ Bendigo Pinot Noirs, ‘Drowsy Fish’ whites designed to accompany seafood, the ‘Stolen Heart’ reds from Hawke’s Bay, the ‘Dolce Vita’ sweet wine, a selection of top class Bordeaux imports and artisan honey. The identity of the winegrowers who collaborate with Jing Song are generally kept confidential, though Grant Taylor, who was instrumental in the ideas behind much of the operation with Jing Song is revealed. Here, I review the new 2014 ‘Stolen Heart’ Merlot/Malbec from the Gimblett Gravels. www.crownrangecellar.com
