Crown Range Cellar ‘China Girl’ Pinot Noir 2015

29-Aug-2016
One of the strongest new entrants on the New Zealand wine scene is Crown Range Cellar. The company’s wines are the super-premium negotiant bottlings of Jing Soon, an entrepreneur who entered into a business collaboration with iconic Central Otago winemaker Grant Taylor following her time working at Valli Vineyards during her studies. The range of wines continues to grow and now encompasses those made by selected winemakers from various regions outside of Central Otago. Their commonality is their very high quality, reflecting the high standards as specified by Jing Soon. Recently, I reviewed the 2014 ‘China Girl’ Central Otago Pinot Noir (click here for my notes) made by Grant Taylor, and named as a tribute to the Chinese gold miners of New Zealand. The wine was made from fruit from ‘Chinaman’s Terrace’ in Bendigo. The name is also clearly a reference to Jing Soon! Here, I review the 2015 ‘China Girl’ Pinot Noir. www.crownrangecellar.com
