Corbans ‘1902’ Pinot Gris 2014, Chardonnay 2013 and Merlot/Cabernet 2012

15-Mar-2017
The Corbans ‘1902’ brand acknowledges the beginning of the Corban family growing and making wine in New Zealand. The Corban’s name is synonymous with the spirit and drive of this country’s wine industry pioneers, and still commands respect, with Corban family members continuing to make wine today. The ‘Corban’s’ wine name is now owned and operated by Lion, one of this country’s largest alcohol beverage companies, which also has Wither Hills, Daniel Le Brun, Lindauer, Te Hana and Morton Estate in its portfolio. The ‘Corbans 1902’ tier was created as a specialist on-premise label, but has found wider distribution. The wines are made BY Jane de Witt from premium fruit, and have performed well in wine shows. Here, I review the 2014 Gisborne Pinot Gris, 2013 Gisborne Chardonnay and 2012 Hawke’s Bay Merlot/Cabernet. www.corbans.co.nz
